Skycare’s Raynor Simich awarded Base Commander’s Commendation

Skycare’s Raynor Simich has received a Base Commander’s Commendation for “displaying outstanding zeal and devotion to duty” to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF).

Group Captain DJ Hunt, Base Commander Auckland, awarded the commendation to Raynor who manages military and government operations for Skycare, Swissport’s Oceania-based FBO and corporate handling division.

Peter McNally, General Manager Ground Handling (NZ) congratulated Raynor on the achievement, saying: “Through her unwavering dedication and commitment, Raynor has built a wonderful relationship with her client. It is fantastic to see her honoured in this way.”

A Base Commander’s Commendation is awarded to personnel or units who have displayed outstanding zeal and devotion to duty such that their performance is worthy of additional recognition. Group Captain Hunt, Base Commander Auckland has awarded such a commendation to Ms Raynor Simich.

Since 2002, Raynor has supported RNZAF in the Skycare Limited, Manager Military and Government Operations role, with enthusiasm, dedication, compassion and a real sense of responsibility. Raynor has been fundamental to the achievement of many RNZAF missions over the years. Her exceptional work ethic, compassionate nature and professionalism has ensured she always got the job done to the highest professional standards. To achieve this, Raynor has spent significant time on 24-hour call ensuring the successful execution of RNZAF outputs.

An example is during Sky Train in 2018, Raynor managed to arrange parking, refuel, airfield access and customs within 24 hours of notice and with only an overview of what was needed. This is consistent of her flexible and agile approach, which has contributed to the RNZAF achieving operational outputs at short notice. Raynor’s dedication and diligence has seen her go above and beyond to ensure that the RNZAF was looked after as a customer. This included being on call during her own son’s wedding, and from a hospital bed on another occasion.

Raynor has a friendly and professional demeanor which has seen her build a rapport with numerous RNZAF personnel and has contributed to a long and successful relationship between the RNZAF and Skycare Limited. The dedication and commitment shown by Ms Raynor Simich for RNZAF Flight Facilitation Services is worthy of recognition and she is hereby awarded a Base Commander Auckland Commendation.
